This project involved the design and installation of a fully concealed automated gate system for a Grade I listed medieval manor house, requiring absolute discretion, technical precision, and close collaboration with a wider design team.
Following conversations with the homeowner, we designed bespoke underground motor enclosures to allow seamless integration with the approved landscape design, ensuring that all modern infrastructure remained entirely hidden within the historic setting.
We worked closely with Donkeywell Forge (who were the local blacksmiths commissioned to fabricate the gates), providing detailed CAD drawings and technical input to support the design and manufacture process. Stainless steel components were laser cut to specification, with all TIG welding, re-machining of drive mechanisms, and associated component manufacture carried out in-house to achieve the required tolerances and longevity.
A bespoke underground automation system was installed and configured alongside a control system featuring KNX outputs, enabling full integration with the clients existing home automation system.
The result is a discreet, heritage-sensitive entrance system that combines traditional craftsmanship with modern engineering.
